Work with other purchasers to create frameworks. It makes it so much easier for providers having to submit EVERY detail on EVERY tender.
Cater for SMEs. If you really want to do business with SMEs, break lots down into bids that give SMEs a chance.
Cater for SMEs. Build in 10 day payment terms for SMEs instead of 30 days (or more).
Keep people informed. Let them know in plenty of time if you’re adding, changing or closing a tender.
Keep the language simple. Using jargon excludes people – or is that the point?
Know what you want to buy. Make your specification clear.
Make your scoring simple, publish the results, provide feedback.
