I’ve advocated for communities and networks for a long time now. I’m certain the wisdom of the crowd will, in almost every circumstance, be an improvement in what the individual can know for themselves.
This view was confirmed several times last week when I saw my connection with others, and groups of people come together and work through issues together.
All of these encounters were online so the myth that people need to be face to face is broken. It doesn’t mean we don’t need to get together with people, break bread with them and swap experiences.
It does mean that nurtured and developed communities and relationships can exist and thrive without face to face interaction. Don’t assume, when asked for face to face activity, it is naturally the best. Seek out the state of the existing relationships and communities first and then decide on the best approach.
