I heard a story the other day about a senior manager and how they were ‘encouraging’ people to work from the office. They had been expected to bring BOS (bums on seats) up to 70%+ in the office every day.
What they started to do was throttle down the information available online and through co-working channels and make it available in small huddles with people when they were in the office. If you were in the office you got the inside track and more context; if you weren’t in the office you were working with basic information.
Don’t do this.
You will destroy collaboration and trust, turn the teams on each other and create inconsistent communication, knowledge and understanding.
If you work in learning, the same applies; don’t hold back resource in one channel because you want people to do something a certain way.
