What matters

One of the measures in my book – Proving Impact – is about understanding the context where performance, and learning, happens.

I saw the following statistic last week:

Since the election was announced, there has been a 53% increase in unique listens to political-specific podcasts, according to Acast and Podchaser data.

Acast highlights news podcasts in new campaign for UK voters,
Podcasting Today

A simple task for L&D would be to look at when content is completed and see how that relates to activity outside the organisation. For example, in Black History month, is there a noticeable uptake in EDI content? When government budgets are announced, what happens with your welfare support and personal skills learning? If there is restructuring happening, how well are your personal improvement contents and support used?

PESTLE elements are happening around the work you do, and affecting the lives of the people you work with.

Use the output from your learning data to keep your finger on the pulse.
