I remember working in different London councils when numerous elections have taken place, including the Brexit referendum.
What people forget, after the event, is the simply incredible work my former colleagues will have done across the country to make the process as simple and effective as possible. Yes, there will be errors, but these are the people who keep your local services going and are probably off today – most will have been working from 7am to the polls close at 10pm, and many more will have been hand counting your ballot papers.
So, irrespective of the result, be grateful we have thousand of public servants putting themselves out to maintain our right to vote.
