Sharing is caring

Text 'SHARING IS CARING' with the word 'SOCIAL' spelled out in wooden blocks

One of the things I see a lot of people arguing about is the value of social learning. Not over whether it’s the right thing to do – everyone seems agreed upon that – but how do you work out the specific value?

This is one area of Proving Impact which I didn’t struggle to identify. Put simply, social learning is when learning happens between people so a measure of those bonds being created and strengthened will support it happening. But how do you measure that?

The obvious place to look is where people are sharing. Who is sharing your learning support and where?

The person sharing something 50 times seems to be a good sharer; if only 3 people from their shares goes to their recommendation are they a good sharer?

The person sharing 10 times but 9 people then access their recommendation is the better sharer. This Sharing Quotient (SQ) is a vital data point and incredibly useful in understanding the key influencers in the organisation and the people who you really need to be advocating for you. How are you counting this?

Let me know what you use to count social learning activity and do you know the people with a high SQ?
