Professionally persistent

Apparently there’s a new term in town and it’s being used as a screen to hide what’s really happening.

You know those emails, messages, connection requests, and calls from the same person. It used to be called spamming; deeply annoying and timewasting. I don’t generally accept these connection requests and the About section of my profile says this:

Before you just click on the invite button, please make sure you’re telling me why you want to connect. I don’t conduct commercial conversations through LinkedIn so don’t connect if you’re just trying to sell me stuff.

Similarly, I automatically send emails with subscribe/unsubscribe into a separate folder. They get reviewed at the end of the day if they have any interest. Folder size at today’s date is 8,122. That’s in the last six months.

The new label is Professional Persistence. Don’t use it and don’t accept it.

This isn’t persistent – it’s stubborn.

This isn’t professional – it’s highly UNprofessional.
