Top 10 tools for learning 2025

A blurred image of a person's feet wearing sandals on a textured surface, featuring the words "TOP 10 TOOLS FOR LEARNING 2025" prominently displayed in large, bold white text.

Every year Jane Hart collects and analyses submissions for the top 10 tools for learning. I usually remember to add mine and this year’s looks VERY different from previous years. This is, in part, down to the work we’re doing but also taking time to sort the wheat from the chaff.

In no particular order:

Audacity
The only audio editor I trust. It’s dated and it’s clunky but just works. And works well.

Riverside
The best audio online recording studios I’ve ever tried. Unlike so many online tools, the improvements they have made for this have just made it better over time.

PowerPoint
Still the best tool to design and develop slides. I’ve tried Google Slides but it doesn’t quite cut it.

Raindrop
Since the demise of Pocket I’ve needed a curation tool and Raindrop just fits the bill. It’s as good, if not better, than Pocket.

Feedly
It’s getting more expensive but the value of an effective and simple RSS reader can’t be underestimated. It works well and makes finding the right information just so much easier.

Adobe Podcast
If you want to do a quick clean up of some audio, this works brilliantly. Removing background noise and enhancing voices was never easier.

Canva
It maked image editing so easy and simpler than ever before.

Eddy/Headliner
If you want to generate quick clips, social content, and simple transcripts this is great.

ChatGPT
The Daddy of the LLM tools and the latest version – 5.0 – is simply unbeatable right now.

LinkedIn
Pretty much the only social network for work I can use now.

Any surprises? Please let me know.

You have until noon (BST) on Friday 29 August 2025 to get your entries in and I would strongly recommend pausing and working out which tools you use most, and then checking the results which Jane compiles really quickly afterwards.
