Something which stood out on my holiday was the behaviour of some people at dinner. My Dad was strict about food – if you put it on your plate, you ate it. This is why I don’t drink coffee; after asking for one when I was small I was forced to drink it.
In the dining room, some of the guests thought nothing of piling their plates sky high with food at the buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then not eating it all. Massive waste and making vast amounts of food unusable.
Some diners, myself included, took less and went back if we wanted more.
The idea of self-determination, that people can choose for themselves, should be valued. However, be prepared for a substantial amount of waste, overproduction, and people being dissatisfied, irrespective of what you offer.
