Read the signs

I was at a hospital last week accompanying someone for an appointment. While I was waiting as their consultation was completed, I had a look around the space I was in.

There were 22 signs in the 4x3m space. I assume since they were there that all of them were important.

Some were instructional, some informative, some professional, and some just printed A4 and A5 sheets. They were all pretty much unread by the half dozen people waiting in the 40 minutes or so I was there.

Did they have any value? For the people in the waiting room they were meaningless by virtue of them not being read. For the producers of the signs, the act of producing and publishing the sign was likely a task which could be ticked off a list.

If I create a poster and no-one reads it, does it have any impact?
