Stay in your lane

I’ve seen this phrase before and only just realised how unhelpful it is.

If you work in one sector, you don’t cross the informal lines of authority which limit people’s engagement. If you work in a skills role, you are limited from engaging with people in a knowledge role. If you work in a formal setting with others you might be constraining informality.

I’m lucky that I feel rebellious a lot of the time and want to support people outside of their perceived lane. How are you helping people look – and move – wider than the limits placed on them?
