I’m often asked for the bullet pointed list of activities to make the shift towards a different approach to learning. I know ‘listicles’ can be a bit clichéd, but here’s a list of things you can do immediately to shift your approach to your learning strategy.
- Stop looking for simple lists of tasks which will shift your learning approach

There isn’t a simple list of things to do because the shifts you are expecting, what your leadership are anticipating, and what your employees might (and indeed might not) want are all different. You are operating in an beautifully complex world with complicated processes and systems which are unaligned, inconsistent, and hard to manage, let alone cope with.
Your motivation is, of course, to ‘be better’ at what you do. That means your only step can be to stop trying to find a simple answer. Look much more deeply at the way you’re supporting the organisation and think much more critically and creatively about the way you design, develop, support, and plan people development. You can then create a much more demanding list.
