What do I need to know?

A wooden signpost with a single arrow pointing to the right, set against a snowy mountainous background. The sign has a rustic, weathered look, suggesting it has been exposed to the elements for some time. The background is somewhat blurred and covered in snow, contributing to a chilly, wintry atmosphere.

I am regularly asked for advice from people about developing their career, practice, profession, etc.

I understand why people ask; I appear to know what I’m talking about and am readily accessible by email, LinkedIn and other social channels. My answer, however, for pretty much everyone is I don’t know.

I don’t know your context, background, aspiration, successes, experience, or activity. I give people some time and ask what they’re doing and what they want to be doing.

Do we do the same for all the people we work with in L&D?

If not, why not?
