Catchphrases

The image shows a toy figure of Woody, the cowboy character from the Pixar animated Toy Story films. The figure is seated on a dark blue fabric surface, with a blurred dark green background behind it. Woody is wearing his signature cowboy hat, shirt, and jeans, and has a friendly, smiling expression on his face.

I was thinking about the film Toy Story the other day and how Woody had particular catchphrases. You pulled a string in his back and he had a few specific phrases which he would rotate between. Specific, trusted words which you knew he would say.

I was thinking what I’d say if I had specific phrases

Mine would be:

  • Capability equals capacity plus ability
  • Work to live, don’t live to work
  • Play to succeed, don’t play to win
  • Outcomes and impact are better measures than input and output

Imagine you had a pull string in your back – what would be your catchphrases?
