I was out last week at a football match and, as I got to the bus stop, realised I’d left my wallet at home.
I got on the bus using my mobile to pay. I got a drink using my mobile to pay. I got on the tube, again using my mobile to pay. I got into the ground using my virtual season ticket, using my mobile to scan my way in.
This is the nature of the modern world; the analogue exists in parallel with the digital and we have options to use many channels where they interact. The same applies to your learning and development. Just because you offer it one way, doesn’t mean people will either:
- want to do things the way they always have
- want to use tools and technology in ways you might not consider or
- any combination of the above
You MUST have a sense of how and where people are accessing their learning – not YOUR learning. That will create the best opportunities to show them how they can use you for their support, not the hurdle they have to get past.
