It’s the last working week for me in 2024 and though I’d take the opportunity to look back on the most read, commented, liked, and shared posts on the last 12 months. We’ll count down from number five to number one on Friday.

The fifth most read post of the year was in January. Called ‘It’s not you it’s the job‘, it was a comment on how job manageability was up to 5x more important for managers than skill proficiency. Thinking about your approach to leadership and management, what are you doing to support this? We’ve put in a couple of tenders this year where we’ve tried to shift the conversation to capacity and management context but the focus has, from the purchasers, been on upskilling.

Interestingly, we even bid for some work where a leadership and management programme had been run in the last two years and it was being retendered because “it hadn’t worked”. Take from that what you will and bear in mind it’s about the space where learning happens as much – if not more – than the learning itself.
