I really appreciate people leaving comments under the things I write. In almost every case, it’s because it’s prompted a thought, reaction, or idea which they then trust and graciously share with me. I look at comments below other people’s post and realise just how lucky I am sometimes when I see the comments other people get.
Here are a few which have stood out to me recently:
The advert: I think you’re right/wrong/don’t care but am going to use your post to AMPLIFY MY BRAND in the comments. That means LINKS and IMAGES which overwhelm the post you’ve made.
The missed point: I have something to say which isn’t directly related to your post but I’m going to say it anyway. I have an agenda and I’ve a right to say it, even though it’s unrelated to what you’ve written about. Think about a man in conference session using the Q&A to make a statement – that.
The letch: I am a man and you are a pretty/beautiful/gorgeous lady and I’m going to add a comment here to tell you that. This is happening more on LI and it’s wrong.
The always replies: I’m a fanboy and I’ll respond to EVERYTHING you post since it make me look like I’m as cool as you.
The hermit: I replied once to one thing but it wasn’t acknowledged by the poster, or anyone. I’ll go back into my shell until I get the nerve to try commenting again. Which might never happen.
The name dropper: I was talking to ‘Celebrity’ with ‘Guru’ about ‘Rockstar’ and this exact idea came up there. I passed it on to ‘Thought Leader’ who agreed with me that you are wrong. Names for names’ sake don’t make you look cool.
The hashtagger: They’re #blessed and #supportive of your #journey and pump their #comments full of #hashtags. I assume it’s because they’re advertising and they saw it on a #marketing post somewhere, or they follow these #hashtags and want to see who else is #posting.
Which comments do you see which stand out? I know I’m tempting providence but, please let me know in the comments!
I love these descriptions! It really captures the LI ecosystem well – a real not-to-do-list 🙂 Though I feel lucky that I do also see a lot of nice, relevant comments (not necessarily on my sparse posts, but on those of others) aimed at generating conversation.
