Effortless Care

A blurred image of medical imaging films, with the words "EFFORTLESS CARE" prominently displayed in large, bold white text.

I had reason to head into town this week to see a hospital consultant (nothing serious, don’t worry).

The appointment was offered by phone, confirmed by email. I used a map app to get to the right building, followed digital signage to the correct floor, and checked in with a receptionist who confirmed on-screen that I was in the right place.

The consultation itself was excellent – and recorded digitally. I was prescribed a couple of items, which were sent straight to the in-house pharmacy electronically. Thanks to a digital receipt for my pre-payment certificate, I didn’t need a paper copy.

After collecting my medication, I headed home, tapping in and out of the Tube with my phone. Later that day, the consultant emailed me a link to an app where all notes and correspondence will be hosted. No letters to be typed and posted. No admin lag.

This is digitisation at its best – enhancing the experience without removing what matters. The admin is digital. The meaningful moment – the face-to-face – stays analogue.

Now look at your learning offer.
