Running my own business reminds me there is ALWAYS something to do. It’s so easy to keep switched on and busy that when it does get busy, you find yourself working even harder.

Last week I got ahead of a project and was waiting for responses. Not urgent, nothing major, but I’d blocked time out to work on it and suddenly had nothing to do.

My first instinct was to fill the space, keep moving and do something. There’s always something when you lead yourself.

I turned to my partner to say I was taking a break – almost to justify it – and she said, “Good.”

There is always something to do, but sometimes it’s better to be.
