Carrots and sticks

The carrot for learning shouldn’t be a certificate, accreditation, or approval. The stick for learning shouldn’t be mandated completion or 100% pass marks. Help people understand their own motivations for wanting to learn and their limits which will stop them starting or continuing. Blunt tools do no favours for participants, or the people wielding them.
