I was at an online event a few weeks ago and watched a couple of presentations, asked a couple of questions, and took a couple of screenshots. It hasn’t registered much on my radar – I opened the file I had the screenshots in the other day and couldn’t work out why I’d taken them.
I got an email today telling me I could get a certificate of attendance so I downloaded it and it says:
This certificate is awarded to
Andrew Jacobs
of
Llarn Learning Services
for participating as an
Attendee
Box ticked. If I was so minded, I could register the 10 hours of the event as personal development and hang the certificate on my wall as meaningless as it might be.
I won’t; my integrity wouldn’t allow me to do that, but how many people might attend the same event and use the certificate as a ‘pass’ to avoid being challenged over their practice?
