Being responsible

I read a lot about responsibility and how there’s a need for people to be responsible for their own data, security, learning, conduct, etc. I see less about people being accountable. Responsibility can be delegated and ceded. Accountability can’t. Stop taking responsibility and start being accountable. #ItStartsWithMe

Who’s responsible?

In most matters of workplace learning, it’s the LnD function. In matters of workplace performance it’s more complex. Ask who’s accountable, and that is unlikely to be LnD. Is that why we’re happy to work on counting learning rather than measuring performance? Make sure you know who is accountable; expectations matter.
