I don’t mean pilots in the Checklist Manifesto sense. I mean pilots as small group projects which can be used as experiments, tests, and hacks.
They work to small scale and pilots don’t fail; they just have different degrees of success. Pilot everything. In different places, at different times, with different people. Use the data from these pilots to craft your future solution. You’ll be evidence-based AND have buy-in from different parts of the organisation, making the ‘sell’ of the scaled up activity easier.
You have essentially described my approach to most ideas I have in the workplace!
