Road building

Seth Godin published this yesterday and it describes one of the problems we have in LnD. It feels like we’ve wanted to create buildings for too long. They’re a certain size and shape, have certain access points, are contained and manageable, serviceable on our terms, our conditions, our terms.

If we build roads, we have to constantly plan ahead and work out the relationships between the organisation’s buildings. As Godin says:

Buildings, on the other hand, begin to morph as soon as the owner or tenant decides they need to.

Build the road and you’re the enabler, the connector, the facilitator. That means getting out of your LnD building though. Embracing the discomfort.
