If you want to make your food taste better you season it. Add a bit of salt, some pepper, some herbs, and you change how you experience the food. You’re able to reflect different aspects of what you’re cooking and highlight some of the constituent ingredients.
The same goes for your writing. If you’re selling yourself on a CV just putting ‘good communication skills’ is a bland statement and lacking bite. ‘A confident and competent presenter’ sounds much more professional.
Over-season your writing with too many decorative elements and you’ll ruin it, much like the chef who over salts a dish or makes something too peppery to eat.
Season well.
