Free jazz

I was chatting with a colleague and were comparing work to music. We agreed that most organisations, if they were a band, would likely be playing free jazz.

Your leaders might think they’re setting the beat as the drums of the outfit, but every function would be a different instrument and is likely playing to a different tempo. The best free jazz happens when the component parts are listening to each other.

The successful learning functions don’t help people play, but help people listen.
