I almost didn’t write a blog post for today.
I’ve been busy with reading and writing, meetings and conversations, designing and creating and realised, late in the day, that I didn’t have a post written.
Would it matter if I didn’t write a post today? Probably not, but only in terms of today. What it would do is create the circumstance where I could, if I wanted, choose not to write another blog post. Effectively giving myself permission to not do something. My fear is that if I do that, I might lose my creative spark.
Creativity is a skill and behaviour. It needs to be worked on the same as any core skill. I saw it described like a tap – you have to turn it on (and keep it on) to let all the ‘bad’ creative stuff come out before the good happens.
So I keep writing.
If your blogpost had not arrived in my Inbox, I would simply have believed that today was either Saturday or Sunday.
