I saw an article in a business publication last week which listed the 4 steps required to become skilled in a specific profession:
- Get an undergraduate degree
- Look for entry-level employment in a related area
- Expand your skill set with a master’s degree
- Build competencies with professional certifications
My heart sank when I saw this list.
It feels so old world. Get educated, practice, get educated, get qualified.
The ability to tap into knowledge with communities across the globe, leverage experts and content is so far removed from this process that it feels a bit embarrassing to see it in a mainstream publication.
Are we reverting back to old world learning practice in an attempt to revert back to old world working?
