Someone described me as a learning geek and I’m quite happy with that description.
To be mildly obsessed with the profession isn’t a bad thing. I’d suggest more of us should be geeky in our thinking and actions in this space.
Anyone can be a generalist but being a specialist, knowing a subject implicitly and being able to respond to questions in a specific range will give you more power, albeit with less control.
Embrace specialisms with the same enthusiasm you put aside for the versatile. The people who specialise have put the time to make generalists time easier. Use us for that.
