The old internet meme TL:DR can now be put to bed and TL:RTS used in its place. Where Too Long: Didn’t Read used to stand, Too Long: Read The Summary now exists.

For example, there was an article in Forbes – Learning In The Digital Age: Reskilling And The Evolution Of Education – and I thought I’d see if Bard (Google’s LLM) could summarise it for me. Here’s what it did:

The article discusses the evolution of education in the digital age, with a focus on reskilling and upskilling. The author argues that the need for reskilling is not just about surviving a crisis, but about creating a better future. The best employees are always reskilling, and the Great Resignation has ushered in a surge in higher education enrolment as workers seek career changes, reskilling opportunities, and early retirement. Quality online instruction is in higher demand, and edtech companies are offering shorter, more specialized training programs that can lead to better and more diverse job opportunities. This shift to online learning was already happening pre-pandemic, and it is likely to continue in the future. The author concludes by discussing three major shifts that are supporting this journey to a radically decentralized learning experience: (1) the shift from a model where students access “very good” professors to a model where students access the best in the world; (2) the shift from a model where students learn in isolation to a model where students learn in community; and (3) the shift from a model where students learn at a fixed pace to a model where students learn at their own pace.

Nor short enough? You can ask it to summarise in 50 words or less and get this:

The article discusses the evolution of education in the digital age, with a focus on reskilling and upskilling. The author argues that the future of education is decentralized, where students will have more control over their learning journey. This shift is being driven by the need for reskilling and upskilling in the digital age, the rise of edtech companies, and the increasing popularity of online learning.
