I keep seeing this as a descriptor for a range of workplace elements. Just a few which have appeared in the last few months:
- Working 2.0
- Learning 2.0
- Workplace 2.0
- Talent 2.0
- Data 2.0
- Engagement 2.0
- Employee experience 2.0
A few questions:
Why wasn’t 1.5 good enough? Something must have happened incrementally from 1.0 towards 2.0, whether that be in larger steps of .1, or smaller in .01, or even .001.
If we’re now in 2.0, what happens to all the people still at 1.0? Expecting the world to change and not the people in it is a false statement.
When can we expect 3.0? I’m assuming there is a plan which will lead to 3, 4. 8. 26, 59, etc. Where can I see it and contribute to it?
Using this as a shorthand to suggest there is a difference and things have changed is entirely reasonable. To brand it and make it something people have to purchase, buy into, or procure isn’t going to fly based on the way many economies are working right now.
