I was driving the other day and needed to use the directions function within the maps app. I rarely drive and even more rarely have to use a GPS so was a bit put out when my phone started making noises. All was going fine until I heard a strange beep. I thought it was an attempt to get my attention for a change in route.

It went off again another half dozen times and I struggled to recognise what it might have been. After about 8 occasions I realised it was my device letting me know I was approaching a speed camera.

I wasn’t aware the map function did this but, after the initial surprise, realised how an effective tool it could be.

Imagine your technology at work can identify the hazards, laws, and expectations for you and your colleagues. How different might your learning support be if all you did was coach people before an event and relied on their work systems to help them? Have a quick look at what AI is doing in knowledge work and re-evaluate the way you’ll need to work in the future.
