There was a superb paper produced this week which drew on a 2024 survey of more than 9,000 workers across nine countries. In it, it finds that more workers report potential benefits from new technologies like robots and AI for their safety and comfort at work, their pay, and their autonomy on the job, than report potential costs.
The AI vs employee argument needs to change; it’s AI with employee and the need to integrate AI technologies in work – and by extension learning – is essential for organisations looking to develop their activity.
The question then becomes “which AI” and how to utilise it ?
My current employer is firmly committed to Microsoft Copilot. I am a Copilot trainer and am currently trying to resolve the issue of how to “pitch” such workshops to staff with a wide range of IT capabilities ; and dealing with folks’ hopes, fears etc.
Managing expectations, whatever they might be, is a challenge !

That’s a great example. AI isn’t just for content – indeed, it’s better NOT to use it. I saw an outstanding article on how it can be used well:

Thank you for that link Andrew ; it is a really excellent article that echoes many of my thoughts, concerns and objectives.
It is easier said than done, but I do like the sub-heading “Keep improving” as that really encapsulates what this is all about !
