Counting down 4

It’s the last working week for me in 2024 and I’m taking the opportunity to look back on the most read, commented, liked, and shared posts on the last 12 months. We’re at number four and count down to number one on Friday.

In May, I posted about how GoogleIO’s keynote presentation seemed to be a bit fixated…

I have tinnitus and hear a constant tone all the time. If you work in L&D, the 47 seconds of audio in this post is the sound which has occupied pretty much EVERYTHING this year. I’m pretty sure AI will be the number one in Donald H Taylor’s Global Sentiment Survey for 2025 and I’ve included AI in an article about this year – and next year – for People Management magazine.

At the sharp end though, I’m not hearing people making fundamental changes to their work – yet. As Alison Tansey so elegantly mentioned the other week, L&D people are:

– Working hard to make inherited content more accessible, relevant and timely
– Thoughtfully creating aligned and impactful talent solutions tailored to the needs of individuals and business outcomes
– Pushing back as much as they can on knee-jerk reactions and ad hoc demands

Yes it’s coming, yes, it’s here, yes it’s not going away, yes it’s going to change the world.

Yes it’s not going to do that yet. I was reminded of the picture at the top of this post recently – I think we’ll still be there for a while.
