Lorne Michaels is the Canadian and American television writer and film producer of a Saturday Night Live, The Kids in the Hall and The Tonight Show. In his recent biography, there are numerous stories and anecdotes which discuss topics from managing agents to managing ideas.

One which stood out to me is the title of this post – fatigue is your friend. I love the suggestion that fatigue wears down the critical faculties, and by connection, your editor. Sitting in the ER on Monday night, on the edge of tiredness, I had a half dozen ideas for blog posts, marketing ideas, and event design.

They were ideas I have probably dismissed as too extreme, excessive, or limited by my beliefs while being on top of my game. When the tiredness sets in it’s easier to say, “How about this?”.
