One of the things we talk about within Proving Impact (the book and sessions we run) is the power of 10. 10 days, weeks, and months, we ask ‘so what’, ‘now what’, and ‘and what’.
We ran a session about ten months ago and it’s really interesting to see what has happened. We ask about the following:
- Progress
- Impact on organisation
- Cultural shift
- Impact on talent
- Future initiatives
This is just the reflective part of the process; we’d expect organisations would look for measures and data which, when looked at with the responses to some of these questions, will start to demonstrate impact.
The most telling comment?
I would say that a lesson learnt is the amount of time and energy it takes to build an evaluation plan – this would be better factored in to future initiatives

Measurement isn’t an afterthought; it has impact, proves what you do, and gets your CEOs attention.
