Making a statement

We talk a lot in learning about what works.

Yesterday I posted about how the Podcast Learning Festival supports new approaches to learning and knowledge management. Someone quite rightly asked, “Where’s the evidence?”

Good question.

There are plenty of studies that explore how audio, conversation, and narrative shape memory and transfer. And I’m always up for sharing research or pointing people to it. But the point isn’t to close the discussion, but to invite it.

We shouldn’t be afraid of validating the claims we make. For decades, L&D has repeated things like “people are visual learners” or “55% of communication is body language”. They sound convincing. They’re also misleading.

Make a statement? Expect a challenge. That’s how practice gets better.
