My apologies for the self indulgent nature of this blog post. If I can’t be self-indulgent here, where can I be?
I wrote a few months back about how I’d received some honest feedback. I was ridiculously unfit, overweight, and with a chronic blood pressure issue.
I decided to change my practice; this meant a change in diet and a change in exercise regime. The effects in 12 weeks have surprised me. I know I was starting from a high point in terms of weight but I’ve still managed to lose 41 lbs to date (18.6 kg). For comparison that’s
- 2 car tyres
- 8 x 2 litre bottles of fizzy pop
- a 5 gallon bucket of water
- 4 large bags of potatoes
I sleep better, eat better, feel better.
What matters is that this isn’t about fad diets; I eat healthily but still enjoy treats. This isn’t about easy routes to exercise; I do 2-3 sessions weekly at an intense pace to burn off excess calories.
It’s reminded me – you need to put effort in to get results back. It’s also reminded me that you need to publish what you do sometimes. By posting updates I know that I’m sharing my commitment to change with a wide audience. There’s no hiding place.
As I said last time; quantitative feedback produces qualitative results.
Way to go Andrew. You journey is a good reminder to us all the value in sharing to hold yourself accountable.
