I’ve never considered myself to be creative but it’s a label which I’m OK with – now at least. I think because my creativity comes from what I do – reading, listening, writing, and assembling to create something new.
I’m much less happy being called inspiring. It places an expectation on me to be inspirational which weighs heavily. For me, inspiration comes from a spark; the quick, bright, intense light which burns quickly and disappears.
To be creative, all I do is look for the sparks. And if they’re not there I just try to create them. To me, that’s not inspiring, that’s seeking out light and creating friction.
Be inspiring.
Create sparks.
