Initiative is something which can be taken or seized but rarely given. You can create the environment for initiative but whether people use that is their choice.

When someone cites you as inspiring them, you haven’t gifted initiative; it’s about their effort and activity.

What you may have gifted is a spark of creativity; that is much more satisfying.
