I ran Walthamstow parkrun on Saturday in my slowest time for many months.
Aside from being ill recently, I lost fitness over the summer because of my eye, the ground on the parkrun was very muddy, puddles were all over the place and grip was at a premium. I exceeded my usual running heart rate as I tried to get through the mud in new shoes.
In absolute terms it was my slowest time; in context it was a reasonable time.
Context is everything.
