Stop Look Listen

"STOP LOOK LISTEN text on a blurry city street background"

If you want to help people understand what to do when they cross the road, it’s a simple three word instruction.

Stop at the side of the road. Look at the road to make sure it is clear. Listen out for cars approaching.

You can add more layers of sophistication to it, with detail about where to cross the road, kerb width, etc. This happened with videos of the Darth Vader actor – David Prowse. The message is, however, still effectively the same.

In workplace learning, we’d be pulled to the side and asked to make sure we’ve included details of the braking systems of a number of vehicles to make sure that we understand the distances they need to stop and factor that into our decision making.

Ask the SMEs you work with to distil down what they want people to do into smaller and easier chunks and build and support that.
