Hot take!

People are fed up of hot takes!

In a world where we’re speeding up how fast we shove information in front of people, it’s understandable that we’re drawn to the quick fix or simple headline. But hot takes aren’t the answer.

They’re often a shortcut and an oversimplified version of what’s really needed. They’re hot not because they’re helpful, but because of the friction they create. Friction can be useful if it encourages debate.

But hot takes aren’t built for good conversation. They’re rarely an invitation to think. More often, they’re a pointed finger: “Here’s what you’re doing wrong.”

I understand why people write them. From the author’s side, they generate heat. They attract attention. But maybe what we need isn’t more heat.

Maybe we need more light.

Think LED, not halogen.
