…this weekend that I can run a half marathon on minimal training. I also learned that it’s not a wise decision, the performance will be poor and the effects afterwards more painful than anticipated. I haven’t got a specific injury but, at time of writing, am getting DOMS.
Having a level of baseline fitness is great but it doesn’t mean that, when trying to do something which will stretch me, further practice isn’t required.
The same matters for work; previous history and baseline level of performance don’t mean that people are able to extend and stretch without being readied for it.
Make sure that people can practice and prepare or face the consequences.
This strikes a chord. Thanks Andrew. Great insight as always. Well done on the run though.
