Many small organisations describe themselves as ‘too small’ to offer progression, but are
determined to design ground-breaking L&D strategies that prevent ambitious people from
leaving because of limited opportunities.
What if we gave up on the strategy, and replaced it with this one simple thing?
Authentic, developmental conversations with no agenda other than to truly understand:
- The BIG career goals, and the values and experiences shaping them.
- How we can design meaningful, challenging work that helps develop the skills and
confidence needed to reach them.
We can either fret over retaining our stars, and panic when they ultimately leave, or partner
with them – maximising their contribution and energy now, whilst planning purposely for a
future without them.
